Eat, Drink
and Make a Difference on Wednesday,
June 19, from 5:30 – 8:30 pm, at Dining to
Make a Difference’s Dine-Around and Street
Fair, on Washington Street between Albany and Carlisle.
The event
caps Dining to Make a Difference’s
month-long South-of-Chambers-Street Scavenger Hunt
and Celebration, which encourages participants
to patronize as many downtown restaurant and retail
venues as possible, and to collect Proof-of-Presence
(POP) materials from each.
On June 19,
such restaurants as 85 West, Embassy Suites
Hotel/Unity Restaurant, Giovanni’s Atrium,
Moran’s, Regent Wall Street, Roy's NY, Steamers
Landing, and Vine will
serve up their signature fare.
Prizes will
be awarded to scavenger
hunt participants in such categories
as most venues visited and most creative display
of POP materials.
A Live Auction
with David Luther, auctioneer for over 40 years,
will feature fabulous food, drink and travel packages
to benefit a variety of causes.
DMD
Founder Wendy Dubit and Rescue
team Scott and Bear Shields will help
emcee an evening of music and celebration.
The
Compact Disc Jockeys will spin tunes.
And the next
series of Dining to Make a Difference
activities, held in partnership with “A
Growing Concern: The Baum Forum on Food and Farming,”
will begin.
In
case of rain, festivities will be held inside The
Marriott Financial Center, with entrances at 130
Washington and 85 West Street. This event is free
and open to the public, with a portion
of food and drink proceeds and all auction proceeds
to benefit selected charities. A map of Washington
Street -- which is best reached by taking
the N/R train to Rector, the 4/5 or the 1/2 to Wall
St and walking west is below. Or look at it on Mapquest
here.
